Among the more recent beneficiaries of Itron’s innovative solutions is the City of North Miami Beach, whose Utility – which serves around 170,000 clients – selected Itron to help modernize its water distribution system and recover lost water.

According to a recent report in WaterWorld, the Utility aims to improve operational efficiency and enhance costumer service by implementing Itron’s Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), acoustic leak detection, and cloud-based analytics.

These solutions will allow North Miami Beach to collect meter readings remotely, which will increase efficiency, safeguard worker safety, and benefit consumers with improved billing accuracy. Itron’s leak detection will monitor distribution lines for non-revenue water (NRW), helping to minimize the subsequent costs and service disruptions.

Itron’s state-of-the-art analytics will collect detailed consumption and meter alerts, which customers will have access to through a secure web portal. This will help city residents better manage their usage, leading to greater conservation and savings.

The implementation of these solutions is set to be complete by summer 2015.
