Upgrade Your Existing Propeller Meter to a Mag Meter in the Same Flow Tube

The flow meter industry is moving quickly to replace mechanical meters that have lots of moving parts to new no moving part technologies that can meter over a greater flow range with more accuracy and no wear or meter performance degradation.  This exciting change comes with physical challenges of easily replacing the old meters with the improved versions.

In Well meter applications where traditional propeller meters have been utilized, the previous option was to replace the entire flow tube or change the measuring element insert with another mechanical meter.  Changing flow tubes can be very difficult or impossible given the condition of much of the old pipe or meter sets.

McCrometer/Water Specialties has engineered a solution to these challenges by developing a top plate assembly that will allow for the retrofit of the old mechanical propeller meter with the new “State of the Art” Full Profile Insertion (FPI) mag meter.  Just remove the top bolts and take out the existing measuring element and replace it with the new adapted top plate, which will allow for the insertion of the FPI meter.  The FPI meter changes the accuracy from plus or minus 2% to less than .5% accuracy, increases the turndown ratio 10:1 to 100:1 and assures no degradation of accuracy over the life of the meter.

No need to remove the existing tube from the line and wrestle a new meter into place.  This change out is fast and easy allows for future maintenance of the meter without ever shutting down the flow stream.
