The Powerful M-Series M5000 Electromagnetic Meter

The M-Series® M5000 electromagnetic meter has been planned, produced and manufactured in compliance with strict quality standards and features advanced, processor-based signal conversion with an accuracy of ± 0.5%. Designed for applications where power line access is not an option, where there is a constant flow, or when totalization and rate are necessary.

The flow meter utilizes a tube of stainless steel lined with a non-conductive material. A pair of DC-powered electromagnetic coils are mounted opposite each other outside this tube. Two electrodes inserted in the flow tube are perpendicular to the coils. The driven coils generate a magnetic field across the pipe’s diameter.

When it comes to the M-Series M5000, operation, a voltage is generated across the electrodes as a conductive liquid passes through the magnetic field. The voltage is proportional to the fluid’s average flow rate and the pair of electrodes take care of measurement. The converter then amplifies this induced voltage and digitally processes it to produce a specific analog or digital signal. This signal can show the rate of flow and totalization, or it can communicate with remote sensors and controllers. The processor also monitors the stability of zero-flow, frequency inputs, serial communications, and other parameters.

Powered by a battery, the M5000 does will not be affected by solids that may be present in fluids and its corrosion-resistant liners provide durability for years to come. Additionally, operational costs remain low thanks to no pressure loss.

How to Tell if Your Flow Meter Is Costing You Money

Flow meters are designed to help you control costs, not create them. But when a meter becomes inaccurate or goes untested, it can quietly lead to wasted resources, inefficiencies, and unexpected expenses. At the Avanti Company, we help customers identify when flow measurement issues may be impacting their bottom line. One of the first signs … Continued
