On this post Labor Day blog, we’re continuing our Made in the U.S.A. by taking a closer look at InfoSense, Inc. The technology driven corporation’s origins begin—and have remained—in the United States and it’s one of the more recent companies that have quickly emerged as a major contributor to innovating sewer line cleaning technology.

InfoSense began as an idea in 2005 at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utilities sought a means of tackling the various problems faced by wastewater utilities. Two years later, InfoSense, Inc. was formed in North Carolina, eventually unveiling the idea for the Sewer Line Continuous Assessment Tool or SL-CAT. In 2010, the first generation of Sewer Line Rapid Assessment Tool or SL-RAT was launched, with Charlotte-Mecklenburg becoming the first customer. After extensive research and development conducted right here in the United States, the third generation SL-RAT debuted to much acclaim, winning various awards. The current model of the SL-RAT can conduct thorough sewer line blockage assessment in less than three minutes

Besides the SL-RAT, InfoSense has also developed the SL-DOG, a back-end package that stores measurement data for customer reporting needs and it continues to sell the SL-CAT acoustic remote monitoring. As with the SL-RAT, each of these products have been thoroughly researched, developed, and manufactured domestically.
