Another City Chooses OpenWay Riva

The Water Finance & Management website is reporting that Waco, Texas has become one of the latest cities to ink a deal with Itron to install the company’s powerful IoT (Internet of Things) OpenWay Riva solution. OpenWay Riva includes a series of leak sensors and water communication modules aimed at improving water delivery and reducing water loss for the city’s 40,000+ utility customers.

To boost operational efficiency and its water metering infrastructure, Waco intends to deploy thousands of communication modules and leak sensors. Using a standards-based network, Waco will be better able to analyze consumption data as well as zero in on problems.

Itron’s OpenWay Riva Water Module IoT technology can sample pipe conditions during the quietest usage periods to pick up on water leaks the moment the leaks occur, allowing the utility to take a proactive approach and address the situation before the leak leads to major losses. With its accurate data collection, the City of Waco will be in a much better position to deliver improved customer service and translate the savings into lower water bills for its numerous customers.
