Flow Meters & Metering Systems

Easily Measure Various Liquids with the Industrial Oval Gear Meter

The modular Badger Meter® Industrial Oval Gear (IOG) Meter is a cost-effective yet extremely accurate and durable solution. The model IOG is intended for use in an assortment of chemical applications included petroleum-based fluids, water, or any construction material compatible liquid.

The IOG operates by allowing fluid to enter the inlet port which then passes through the metering chamber. When it reaches the chamber, the fluid will force internal gear rotation prior to exiting via the outlet port. Each gear rotation causes a displacement of a certain volume of fluid. As the gears rotate, a magnet located on the ends of the gear passes a reed switch found in the register’s circuit board. A microprocessor in the register receives pules from the reed switch to change the LED display segments. The oval gear meter works with many different industrial registers.

Thanks to the Badger Meter IOG meter’s rugged nature it is a useful tool in several applications where conventional meters are not feasible. If, for example, the liquid needed to be measured is highly viscous or excessively corrosive, the oval gear meter can measure it without issue.

Some of the notable features of the IOG include its compactness, a flow range of 0.067…185 gpm, low pressure drop, and the flexibility to install it either horizontally or vertically.

How to Know it’s Time for Differential Pressure Meter

Municipal flow applications utilities and districts need propeller meters, an electromagnetic meter, or any other type of no moving parts meter that acts as an ultrasonic device. However, there are some situations where differential pressure (DP) meters are a more viable option – more specifically, the VM V-Cone, a DP meter designed by McCrometer for … Continued
