Fort Smith Sees a Bright Future with Itron Openway Riva

According to a Business Wire press release, the City of Fort Smith, Arkansas has chosen to go with the technology and services company Itron to modernize its severely antiquated water infrastructure using Itron’s powerful OpenWay® Riva smart water solution. With the upgrade, Fort Smith will be able to dramatically improve its billing accuracy by taking advantage of data available daily or every hour while also focusing on reducing operational costs.

Itron’s OpenWay Riva Water Module is a powerful IoT (Internet of Things) technology capable of sampling pipe conditions during the quietest usage periods to pick up on water leaks the moment they happen, allowing the Utility to take a proactive approach and address the situation before it becomes a major problem. With its accurate data collection, Fort Smith will be in a much better position to deliver improved customer service and potentially lower bills thanks to the efficient, automated meter reading technology.
