RedZone’s Robust Data Collection Platform

When inspecting pipes for defects, accuracy is of the essence. However, pipe issues often occur well in advance before they can be detected visually. Thanks to the advanced pipeline assessment capabilities of RedZone Robotics, its platforms are capable of collecting essential data via sensors that allow full inspections of entire pipes versus segments. This is achieved through a combination of powerful technologies that collectively allow for conditional accuracy.

V-360 CCTV allows managers and engineers to visually explore the pipe to determine its conditional aspects. Zooming in, tilting, panning, the image presented is delivered in high definition to provide a clear, detailed visual during the inspection process.

With 3D-Lidar Laser technology, RedZone can deliver precise models of pipe surfaces to reveal surface abnormalities, even minor ones. Additionally, the technology allows for accurate ovality measurements, outperforming competing products that often lose accuracy when faced with small deviations in crawler position in large diameter pipe.

A number of municipalities clean their pipes to get rid of debris and sediment prior to their inspection. With RedZone’s Sonar, the volume and location of sediment reported make it easier to determine where cleaning is necessary and where costs can be saved. Sonar is particularly effective in pipes up to 25 feet in diameter and it is capable of delivering accurate ovality measurements in fully submerged pipes.

It is imperative to monitor sediment‐generated hydrogen sulfide (H2S) levels over a period of time to keep concentration below the threshold necessary to produce sulfuric acid. Together with its use of sonar, laser, and H2S gas, RedZone’s H2S gas detection technology can detect damage from sulfuric acid in its early stages to reduce the odds of future structural problems.

How to Know it’s Time for Differential Pressure Meter

Municipal flow applications utilities and districts need propeller meters, an electromagnetic meter, or any other type of no moving parts meter that acts as an ultrasonic device. However, there are some situations where differential pressure (DP) meters are a more viable option – more specifically, the VM V-Cone, a DP meter designed by McCrometer for … Continued
