Smart Output and AMR/AMI Systems

Automated meter reading (AMR) and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) systems are becoming increasingly commonplace as utilities seek to strengthen customer relations, improve operations, and provide data available in real-time. Today’s meters are expected to be able to seamlessly communicate with these AMI and AMR systems, and with McCrometer’s Smart Output technology, AMI and AMR integration is made simple.

Smart Output is what allows the McCrometer FPI and Ultra Mag flowmeters to easily communicate with AMI network systems driven by other manufacturers, such as Itron for instance. What this means is McCrometer flowmeters are able to communicate with the radios responsible for transmitting the vital flow data to their respective AMR or AMI network. With Smart Output technology, water utility managers have the flexibility of networking their flowmeters across a distribution system utilizing whatever AMI solution they prefer.

Using Smart Output, McCrometer mag meters seamlessly connect to AMR and AMI endpoint readers, removing the need for manual flow data gathering. Flowmeters up to 132 inches in size are supported and there is no need to worry about service interruption, pipe cutting, line dewatering, or causing customer inconvenience.
